ZOOBC / SHA-256

## Hash a file

Drop any file to calculate its SHA-256 locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

### Choose a network

The hasher is the same tool on either network: it does arithmetic on a file and never touches the chain. The rows are here only so you land on the gateway you were already using.

01 / WHAT IT DOES

### One number, computed locally

Drop one or more files and it prints their SHA-256. The work happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the tool works with the network disconnected.

It makes no claim about whether a file is genuine. For that you want [Verify a download](https://zoobc.com/verify), which takes the same hash and asks the chain whether ZooBC published it.

02 / WHY IT IS SEPARATE

### A calculator, not an authority

Keeping the hasher separate from the verifier is deliberate. A hash on its own is a fact about bytes that anyone can reproduce; whether the chain vouches for those bytes is a different question with a different answer.

Every file zoobc.com hosts lists its fingerprint on [Official files](https://zoobc.com/files), so you can hash a download here and compare the two strings without trusting either page.
